Introduction to Weaving // Hither Green, London

  • Saturday 30 September 2017 // 11am - 4pm
  • Saturday 18 November 2017 // 11am - 4pm
  • Saturday 9 December 2017 // 11am - 4pm

My workshop will provide you with everything you need to know to create a beautiful nature inspired woven wall hanging on a frame loom. You will gain an understanding of different weaving techniques such as rya knots, colour blocking and pattern making, and you will have a chance to experiment with a wide range of vintage and natural yarns to create texture and colour. I will guide you in using elements and scenes from the natural world to inspire your wall hanging. By the end of the class you will not only have picked up the techniques and styles needed to create a wall hanging, but will also be on your way to finding your own unique weaving voice.

The class will be limited to 6 people to ensure plenty of time to get to know each other and to allow lots of one to one teaching.

The class is designed for both beginner weavers and also those wishing to develop their weaving style and meet other weaving enthusiasts.

Materials

All materials and equipment will be provided. You will receive your own handmade loom, weaving tools and weaving guide to take home with you to continue your weaving journey.

I will provide plenty of inspirational material to help you design your weave but if you have a particular scene or landscape you would like to capture, please bring along a picture.
