Introduction to Weaving Workshop

Introduction to Weaving Workshop

Saturday 22 June 2019 // 1pm - 4pm // Kensal Green, London

"A fantastic way to spend a Saturday"  - Jess, workshop attendee April 2017

"Lovely - welcoming, relaxed, fun and inspiring!" - Emily, workshop attendee May 2017

My workshop will provide you with everything you need to know to create a beautiful nature inspired woven wall hanging on a frame loom. You will gain an understanding of different weaving techniques such as rya, looping and pattern making, and you will have a chance to experiment with a wide range of vintage and natural yarns to create texture and colour. I will guide you in using elements and scenes from the natural world to inspire your wall hanging. By the end of the class you will not only have picked up the techniques and styles needed to create a wall hanging, but will also be on your way to finding your own unique weaving voice.

The class will be limited to a small group to ensure plenty of time to get to know each other and to allow lots of one to one teaching.

The class is designed for both beginner weavers and also those wishing to develop their weaving style and meet other weaving enthusiasts.

All materials and equipment will be provided. You will receive your own handmade loom, weaving tools and weaving guide to take home with you to continue your weaving journey.

I will provide plenty of inspirational material to help you design your weave but if you have a particular scene or landscape you would like to capture, please bring along a picture.

Tea, coffee and plenty of cake will be provided throughout the afternoon!
