Perfect for those too far away to attend one of my workshops or who want some more one on one tuition, these online sessions will provide you with everything you need to know to create a beautiful woven wall hanging on a frame loom. You will learn how to warp up a loom and gain an understanding of different weaving techniques such as rya, looping and pattern making. You will have a chance to experiment with a wide range of vintage and natural yarns to create texture and colour. I will guide you in using elements and scenes from the natural world to inspire your wall hanging. By the end of the session you will not only have picked up the techniques and styles needed to create a wall hanging, but will also be on your way to finding your own unique weaving voice.
The session is designed for both beginner weavers and also those wishing to develop their weaving style .
The session will be completely personalised to enable you to go at whatever pace suits you, and to explore this wonderful craft in a relaxed way.
1 hour session
The hour long session will cover the basics of weaving - familiarising yourself with the loom and tools; warping up, choosing weft yarn, tabby stitch, adding texture and finishing off and removing your weaving.
2 hour session
The two hour session will cover all the above but will go into further depth on planning and designing your weaving, creating shapes and developing your weaving style.
Materials
You will need a loom and tools including yarn to participate. I am happy for you to use your own if you have these; I also have weaving kits and yarn available to purchase (at a reduced rate if combined with a teaching session -see options below).
Time and date
The session will be held online via Zoom. I will send you an invitation before the session. I have good availability during the day on weekdays and during weekday evenings. Please get in touch to arrange a mutually convenient time.

This jewel coloured weaving appears in my book Weaving and takes its inspiration from late summer Pembrokeshire skies. It captures the sky one evening on my way back from the beach, ablaze with stripes of orange and gold and deep dark purple clouds.
Woven with gold linen, indigo dyed cotton, recycled sari silk and wool. The weaving comes ready to hang.
It measures approximately 19cm x 48cm
*Please note that because the yarn used for this weaving has been indigo dyed it may fade slightly in sunlight over time.
